Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Group I: Healthy gingiva with a plaque index and gingival index score of 0-1 (Loe and Silness 1963) Group II: Patients with Chronic periodontitis with PPD more than equal to 3 and CAL more than equal to 1. Patients advised CBCT for implant therapy, intrabony defects and impacted third molar extractions.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Presence of teeth with any pathology at the site of interest. 2) Presence of lower jaw fractures. 3) Presence of Root canal treated teeth, teeth with prosthesis at the site of interest. 4) Presence of any Systemic disease. 5) History of taking medications known to increase the risk of gingival hyperplasia and affecting the bone metabolism. 6) CBCT with distorted images of bone crest and artifacts.
