Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients with corrosive esophageal stricture who required endoscopic or surgical intervention. 2. Patients with corrosive injury to stomach who require surgery

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Benign esophageal and gastric stricture due to causes other than corrosive intake. 2. Suspected malignancy. 3. Patients who underwent emergency surgery other than feeding jejunostomy ( esophageal and gastric perforation)

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1. Outcome of endoscopic dilatation and self-dilatation of corrosive esophageal stricture. 2. Outcome of surgical intervention for corrosive esophageal and gastric stricture.Timepoint: 1. Relief of dysphagia following endoscopic or surgical procedure or achieving a diameter for 12 mm after endoscopic dilatation without requiring further endoscopic or surgical intervention for at least 6 months.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. To identify risk factor(s) for failure of endoscopic dilatation in the same population.Timepoint: 1. Refractory stricture is diagnosed if dilatation cannot be achieved with at least one size wider dilator for 5 consecutive sessions 3 weeks apart or maintain the target diameter for 4 weeks once it has been reached.
