Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients aged more than 18 years with undiagnosed pleural effusions and giving consent to participate in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Pregnant females. Patients showing frank pus on the diagnostic thoracentesis.

To see association of pleural fluid calprotectin levels with the aetiology of pleural effusion.Timepoint: at time of thoracocentesis

To find if any relationship exists between pleural fluid calprotectin levels and success rate of pleurodesis in patients with malignant pleural effusion.Timepoint: After pleurodesis
