Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Age between 18-55 years old. 2. Positive patientâ??s acceptance to participate in the study. 3. Mature, permanent mandibular first and second molars diagnosed clinically with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis. 4. Patient registering pain 4 onward in a Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) of 1-10 preoperatively.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Mandibular third molars 2. Medically compromised patients so that no other pain source or drug interaction could interfere with pain resulting from the endodontic therapy. 3. Patients with special needs and medical conditions altering the protocol. 4. Pregnant females. 5. If analgesics, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, corticosteroids or opioids have been administered during past 24 hours. 6. Teeth with previous root canal treatment. 7. Root canals with an extreme curvature [ > 30º]. 8. Teeth i.e., symptomatic with acute periapical abscess and swelling. 9. Teeth greater than Grade I Mobility. 10. Teeth with pocket depth greater than 5 mm. 11. Teeth with internal or external resorption of roots. 12. Teeth with open apices. 13. Teeth with radiographically untraceable canal path (calcified canals, impracticality of achieving apical patency).
Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| To evaluate postoperative pain following conventional syringe irrigation by side vented needle and intermittent flush ultrasonic irrigation in mandibular molars with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis using Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) at different time interval.Timepoint: 6 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| To compare the analgesic intake after root canal treatment following conventional syringe irrigation by side vented needle and intermittent flush ultrasonic irrigation in mandibular molars with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis at different time interval.Timepoint: 0-6 hours, 6-24 hours, 24-48 hours and 48-72 hours | — |
