Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children between 6-11 years of age presenting with acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma defined as per 2020 GINA guidelines.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with known congenital renal magnesium wasting such as Bartter Syndrome, Gittelmannâ??s Syndrome etc. Patients who have received magnesium (oral/intravenous/inhalational) in the last 24 hours. Patients with surgical stomas like ileostomy, colostomy.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Serum magnesium levels.Timepoint: Magnesium level of the patient at presentation to the department.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Number of exacerbations in preceding 4 weeks.Timepoint: Exacerbation in last 4 weeks from time of current presentation.
