Intervention1: 1% Alendronate gel: 1% Alendronate gel will be placed in infrabony defects, after flap reflection and debridement, in patients with chronic periodontitis Control Intervention1: 1% Metfo

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Patients with periodontal disease with a possible indication for flap surgery and having at least two intra bony defects, one on either side of the same arch, with interproximal probing depth (PD) of at least 5 mm or more after phase I therapy. 2.Patients maintaining proper oral hygiene status. 3.Systemically healthy patients. 4.Patients who give informed consent to participate in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Pregnant and lactating females. 2.Patients consuming tobacco in any form. 3.Patients who have undergone periodontal surgical therapy in the last 6 months in the same site. 4.Systemic disease or other conditions that could influence the periodontal status. 5.Allergy to bisphosphonates or history of their systemic use. 6.Unwillingness to return for follow Ã¢â?¬â??up.
