Intervention1: DIETARY INTERVENTION ARM: The intervention group will receive their new complete dentures with standard care instructions and the intervention in the form of a tailored progressive diet

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Completely edentulous patients 2.Patients 60 years and above 3.Patients who have never used complete dentures and seek new dentures 4.Patients without cognitive impairment (MMSE 5.Patients who are able to understand and respond to instructions and questionnaires.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients less than 60 years of age 2.Patients with uncontrolled diabetes(HbA1c =6.5%), an infectious disease or debilitating conditions (terminally ill or immuno-compromised patients). 3.Patients who are obese(BMI >30) or with adequate nutritional status (Mini Nutritional Assessment score equals or above 24) 4.Patients who will not be willing to participate in the study, or refuse to continue with the questionnaire. 5.Received professional nutritional counseling and following a prescribed diet plan or on oral nutritional supplements. 6.Living in an institution. 7.Patients with existing complete dentures seeking replacement.
