Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patient fulfilling criteria of American Society of Anaesthesiology (ASA) of Classes I/ II/ III. Patient aged 18-65 years. Patients undergoing elective transnasal transsphenoidal resection of pituitary tumors. Patientâ??s giving consent willingly.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: GCS less than 15 Preoperative Heart Rate less than 50 beat/min Pregnant patients Patients who Take any Alpha-Methyldopa,Beta blockers,Calcium Channel blockers CAD,EF >40%,pre-existing arrythmias and heartblock. Patients with prexisting psychiatric or neurological illnesses Emergency pitutary surgery incase of bleed Renal insuffuciency Allergy in dexmedethomidine and opioid Morbid Obesity Denied consent

To compare preoperative clonidine with perioperative dexmedetomidine in attenuating the hemodynamic responses and blood loss in patients undergoing elective transnasal transsphenoidal resection of pituitary tumorsTimepoint: all the demographics along with haemodyanamic variables HR SBP DBP MAP SpO2 notes at baseline, before and after (insertion of nasal pack)intubation,insertion of endoscope then every 10 minutes ,till 5 min prior extubation and at extubation

To obtain smooth emergence to facilitate prompt neurological assessment To compare total dose of Propofol given in both the groups.Timepoint: blood loss at the end of surgery in millilitres and total intraoperative propofol used are noted and any other adverse events incurred intaroperatively are recorded
