Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Antenatally diagnosed intra-uterine growth-restricted neonates of >=28 weeks gestation delivered at AIIMS, Rishikesh.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Neonates born to mother with a. Hemodynamic instability b. Placental previa/abruption c. Postpartum hemorrhage d. Multiple gestation: Monochorionic twins. e. Rh negative sensitized pregnancy. 2. Neonate requiring resuscitation 3. Major congenital malformation 4. Fetal Hydrops 5. Failure to give consent

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Superior vena cava blood flow by echocardiographyTimepoint: At 24 ± 2 hours of life

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. Right ventricular output 2. Anterior cerebral and superior mesenteric artery blood flow 3. Regional cerebral oxygen saturation 5. Mean blood pressures and perfusion index 6. Venous hematocrit 7. Incidences of intraventricular hemorrhage, respiratory distress, neonatal jaundice, feeding intolerance and NEC 9. Duration of hospital stay 10. Outcome Timepoint: The outcomes 1-6 will be evaluated at 24 ± 2 hours of life. Rest will be assessed during hospital stay.
