Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients suffering from stage I HTN (SBP: 140-159 and DBP: 90-99 mm Hg) and stage II HTN (SBP: >=160 and DBP: >=100 mm Hg) as per the 8th Joint National Committee (JNC8) classification; ICD-10-CM code: I10 2. Age 18-65 years 3. Patients of either sex 4. Providing written informed consent to participate
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Secondary hypertension as evidenced by abnormality in hemogram, blood sugar, thyroid profile, lipid profile, urine analysis, chest skiagram, and electrocardiogram 2. Malignant HTN and isolated systolic HTN 3. Patients who are too sick for consultation 4. Diagnosed unstable psychiatric illness or other uncontrolled or life threatening illness affecting quality of life or any organ failure 5. Pregnant and puerperial women and lactating mothers 6. Patients having history of regular consumption of oral contraceptive pills, anabolic steroids or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs 7. Substance abuse and/or dependence 8. Self-reported immune-compromised state
