Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| To measure and compare the status of intravascular volume by measurement of inferior vena cava collapsibility index (IVCCI) following conventional midnight fasting and shortened fasting protocol in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.Timepoint: Before surgery, in the preoperative area all the patients shall undergo ultrasonography assisted measurement of Inferior vena cava collapsibility index (IVCCI). | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| To measure and compare the levels of stress hormones (fT4, serum cortisol, C-peptide, C-reactive protein) in response to moderate stress surgeries following conventional midnight fasting and fasting recommendation of ERAS protocol in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.Timepoint: Venous blood samples would be drawn for the measurement of biochemical parameter and would be sent to Biochemistry department at predefined time points i.e, at 8pm on the day before surgery (one hour before the dinner), on the day of the surgery at 7am (2hours before surgery), 1 hour after the tracheal extubation and 24 hours after the surgery. All the samples shall be drawn from the anticubital vein after application of tourniquet. | — |
