Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients presenting with Goodman and Baron Grade II, III, IV acne scars. Grading of the atrophic scars as per Goodman and Baron scale is as below: Grade 1 Macular erythematous hypo or hyperpigmented scars. Grade 2 Mild atrophy not obvious at social distances of >50 cm or easily covered by facial make up or beard hair. Grade 3 Moderate atrophy obvious at social distance of >50 cm; not easily covered by make up or beard hair; but able to be flattened by manual stretching Grade 4 Severe atrophy not flattened by manual stretching of skin.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1)Presence of active acne lesions. 2)Patients having keloid scarring or keloidal tendency. 3)History of bleeding disorder and anticoagulant therapy. 4)Active skin infection like warts, herpes and bacterial infection. 5)Pregnancy and lactation. 6) unrealistically high expectations 7)History of allergy to lidocaine and prilocaine

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
the efficacy of microneedling with Platelet rich plasma(PRP) expected to be better than microneedling alone in treating atrophic post acne scars in a split face design.Timepoint: the patients will be evaluated after 5months of the beginning of treatment to see for change in both qualitative and quantitative goodman and baron score.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To determine the qualitative and quantitative improvement in acne scar grading using microneedling plus PRP. 2) To determine the qualitative and quantitative improvement in acne scar grading using microneedling alone. 3) Compare efficacy of microneedling plus PRP and microneedling alone. 4)To determine visual analog score on both sides by patients and physician . 5)Compare the visual analog scores on both sides to determine patient satisfication Timepoint: patients to be evaluated every month and photographs to be taken to see the response .
