the active lesion and the other from normal looking surrounding skin, will be taken with a standard

Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (i)CASES - aged 18 years and above with chronic(defined as â??patients who have suffered from the disease for at least 6 months duration, in spite of being treated.â??) and recurrent dermatophytosis (defined as â??occurrence of the dermatophyte infection within few weeks , after completion of treatmentâ??) Patients willing to give informed consent. ii)CONTROLS- aged 18 years and above, who have been successfully treated for dermatophytosis and newly diagnosed cases of dermatophytosis , after obtaining informed consent. The non-lesional (normal looking) skin will be selected for biopsy. iii)Patients willing to give informed consent
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (i)Patients aged below 18 years (ii)Patients who are pregnant (iii)Patients with superficial dermatophytosis of less than 6 months duration. (iii) patients without any comorbidity affecting the immune response or predisposing to dermatophytosis (e.g., primary or secondary immunosuppression, diabetes mellitus, Cushingâ??s disease, transplant recipients) iv)Patients unwilling to give consent
