Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: All infants requiring invasive ventilation will be enrolled. 1)Surgical intervention needing elective intubation for general anaesthesia. 2)Severe respiratory or metabolic acidosis (pH 60 mmHg) 3)Severe apnea and bradycardia 4)Severe respiratory distress (SAS/Downe >6) 5)Pulmonary hemorrhage 6)Cardiopulmonary arrest without effective resuscitation and requiring continued ventilation 7)Surfactant administration
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1) Major Congenital Anomaly 2) Major vertebral anomalies 3) Emergent intubation where prior randomization is not feasible 4) Cases where parental consent could not be taken prior to endotracheal intubation
