Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients should 1) have two but not more than four extended-size proximal carious lesions in the posterior teeth, 2) have a healthy periodontal status (patients with a gingival index range of 0.28-0.35, plaque index range of 0.08-0.16,22 and zero bleeding on probing were included23), 3) present a good likelihood of recall availability, 4) have teeth in which the restoration must be in occlusion, and 5) be symptomless and vital.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) partially erupted teeth 2) potential behavioral problems 3) unhealthy periodontal status 4) systemic diseases 5) absence of adjacent and antagonist teeth 6) Teeth with cavity depth with 3 mm or greater or a carious pulpal exposure if found
