Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA I/II 18-65 years Undergoing elective surgery under general anaesthesia

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Anti-emetic drugs or steroid administration within 24 hr before anaesthesia K/c/o diabetes mellitus, pheochromocytoma, carcinoid tumour, gastro-oesophageal reflux, gastric outlet/ intestinal obstruction, PONV, motion sickness, migraine H/o pancreatitis, alcoholism, jaundice or liver disorders Obesity (BMI >30 kg/m2) Pregnancy or lactation Emergency surgery Patients on continuous steroid therapy for >5 days in the last one year.

Blood glucoseTimepoint: Just before induction of general anaesthesia (S0), immediate postoperatively (S1), 6 hr after dexamethasone (S2), 24 hr after Sx (S3), 48 hr after Sx (S4), 72 hr after Sx (S5).
