Intervention1: Verbal Counselling: Patient undergoing verbal counselling by trained counsellors for 8 minutes are given details about the types of cataract surgery and types of IOLs and also discussed

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients clinically diagnosed with cataract who were advised to undergo cataract surgery for the first time Patients willing to participate in this study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who had already had undergone one eye cataract surgery in the past Patients with poor visual prognosis like with corneal opacities retinal pathologies glaucoma etc Patients with hard of hearing Patients who do not understand Tamil

MeasureTime frame
Video Counselling will improve patient knowledge about cataract surgery and type of IOLs used, decreases their decisional conflicts, meaning that counselling minimizes patient anxiety about choosing of IOLs based on demographic factors.Timepoint: Patient assessed on the same day details noted and no follow up needed

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Personally tailored health communications will have a greater influence on health behavior change. A standardized, plain-language educational video would increase patient knowledge regarding cataract surgery and final type of IOL decided by the patient.Timepoint: Patient assessed on the same day details noted and no follow up needed
