Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Be between 30 to 60 years of age 2. Fulfill the criteria for Severe Chronic Periodontitis, Moderate Chronic Periodontitis and Mild Chronic Periodontitis as per the 1999 Workshop for Classification of Periodontal Disease 3. Sites categorized as Severe Chronic Periodontitis are to have CAL of > 4mm and Probing Pocket Depth of > 6mm, with clinical signs of gingival inflammation 4. Sites categorized as Moderate Chronic Periodontitis are to have >2mm and 4mm 5. Sites with Mild Chronic Periodontitis are to have CAL of 1-2mm with Probing Pocket Depth of ï?³3mm, with clinical signs of gingival inflammation 6. Healthy Sites are to have no Clinical Attachment Loss and no evident bleeding on probing

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with Diabetes Mellitus 2. Patients with history of previous periodontal surgery 3. History of antibiotic intake in the last six months. 4. Pregnancy and Lactation. 5. Patients who are smokers and pan- chewers.
