Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients aged 18 to 70 years, ASA 1 to 3, with history of cervical myelopathy, presenting for elective anterior or posterior cervical decompression with or without fusion.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with heart rate or rhythm abnormalities 2. Re exploration procedures and patient in sepsis/recovered from sepsis 3. Diabetic patients 4. Degenerative neurological disease 5. Complete spinal cord injury

Hemodynamic fluctuationsTimepoint: . The Heart rate and Blood pressure will be recorded and noted at Baseline, at induction, at laryngoscopy, and 1, 3, 5, 10 mins post intubation

Incidence of pain at injection and any myoclonic movements will be recordedTimepoint: At the time of injection
