Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Patients undergoing cataract surgery by either phacoemulsification or SICS with implantation of posterior capsular -intraocular lens (PC-IOL) under peribulbar anesthesia 2.Age ranging from 40 -70 years 3.Media clarity sufficient to capture good quality OCT images (Image quality > 40) 4.Patients who are willing to give consent for study and follow up 5.Axial length: 22-24 mm 6.Normal vitreoretinal interface before surgery, absence of complete PVD on OCT

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Media opacity like mature cataract, complicated cataract 2.Associated retinal pathology like age related macular degeneration (ARMD), diabetic retinopathy (DR), uveitis, asteroid hyalosis and vitreoretinal interface disorder like vitreomacular traction, macular hole, Epiretinal membrane (ERM), condition with pre-existing zonular weakness like pseudoexfoliation. 3.Previous intraocular surgery including intravitreal injections. 4.Previous history of trauma. 5.Previous history of laser photocoagulation. 6.Patients requiring capsulotomy, laser photocoagulation, intraocular injections during the follow up period 7.Surgical complications like posterior capsular rent, zonular dialysis, placement of IOL in sulcus 8.Diabetes mellitus

MeasureTime frame
To compare changes in vitreomacular interface after cataract surgery by phacoemulsification and small incision cataract surgery on OCT.Timepoint: Preoperatively and postoperatively at 1 week, 4 week and 12 week.

MeasureTime frame
To assess and compare the degree of vitreomacular separation by OCT after cataract surgery by phacoemulsification and SICS.Timepoint: Preoperatively and postoperatively at 1 week, 4 week and 12 week.
