Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: We will include patients with type 2 diabetes following up at the diabetes unit who are part of the WellGen study as subjects. Healthy volunteers of the longitudinal PMNS study a well as non diabetic patients from the surgery and gynecology OPD will serve as controls. These patients will be screened clinically for fibrotic hand manifestations. Of the screened population, we will select 200 individuals with varying degrees of hand manifestations for imaging of hand, liver fibrosis and exploration of biomarkers of fibrosis in stage 2 of the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with obvious hand deformities, co-existent inflammatory arthritis (rheumatoid, psoriatic) and systemic sclerosis will be excluded from the study.
