Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Any patient more than 18 years of age presenting to the Emergency Department of JSS Hospital undergoing Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI) for airway or breathing management.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients in cardiorespiratory arrest/crash intubation Trauma patients Patients requiring surgical airway at presentation itself Patients with spine pathology which prohibits positioning

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the impact of patient positioning on first pass success rate in rapid sequence intubation done in the emergency medicine department using direct laryngoscopy.Timepoint: 15 minutes

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To assess vitals in peri intubation period. To assess overall outcome of RSI.Timepoint: 1 hour
