Intervention1: GUA-SHA technique using Jade stone: the jade stone release will be given to the masseter, medial pterygoid, lateral ptyrygoid and neck extensor for 15 minutes. with stuctured mouth open

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: age 18 to 65 yrs; who receving adjunct radiation therapy; maximal mouth opening 50; referred for physiotherapy by consultants

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: signs of oral mucositis; oral or facial pain >7/10; Bells palsy, trigeminal neuralgia, facial palsy; facial lymphoedema; sensitive skin, radiation burn or infection; who is not willing to participate.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
pain, maximal mouth opening, range of motion (neck and shoulder joint), Gothenburg trismus questionnaire, mandibular functioning impairment questionnaire, hospital anxiety and depression scale.Timepoint: Baseline, 1st week and end of 3rd week
