Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 30 euthyroid patients of ASA I and II category, age 30---50 years of both sexes, average weight 60â??70 kg

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The exclusion criteria for local anaesthesia were patient refusal, nodule exceeding 10 cm, substernal extension of the nodule if suspected, allergy to local anaesthesia, obese short neck, reoperation, concomitant neck dissections if required, ASA III and more, coagulation profile deranged. All cases were performed by a single surgeon team.

i. To assess the degree of pain felt by the patients intraoperatively and 12 hrs postoperatively in thyroid surgery, using the Verbal Numeric Pain Scale Timepoint: Nov 2020 to Jan 2021
