Interventions

Intervention1: Photo dynamic therapy with Rose Bengal dye: 1.Combination of PHMB 0.02% and Chlorhexidine 0.02% eye drop topically 2.All patients receive 2 PDAT treatments one week apart. 3.All groups

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. All cases with Acanthamoeba keratitis which are confirmed on smears and/or culture as Acanthamoeba by Microbiologist. 2. Ready to give consent 3. Consent for regular follow-up

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Mixed infection on smears or cultures 2. Not willing to come for regular follow-up or admission or giving consent 3. Posterior stromal involvement 4. Severe keratitis, with Limbal involvement 5. One eyed patient (other eye vision if less than 6/60 due to unmodifiable causes) 6. Allergic to Rose Bengal 7. Any associated collagen vascular disease

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Outcome of Acanthamoeba keratitis in terms of resolution and adverse effects. Time to resolveTimepoint: 1 week, 2 week, 1month,3 month

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Number of patients undergone therapeutic Penetrating keratoplasty (TPK) for worsening of infection. Duration of response and complete resolution also measured. BCVA after 4 months of treatment.Timepoint: 1 week, 2 week, 3 week, 1 month, 3 month, 6 month
