Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Adults ( >18 years) visiting Aravind Eye Hospital, Pondicherry. 2.Patients willing to give consent. Participants will be equally divided into four groups : 1)Group 1 (one) People with no diabetes mellitus in self or close relation (Spouse/Parent/Sibling/Offspring). 2)Group 2 (two) will include people with diabetes mellitus but without diabetic retinopathy. 3)Group 3 (three) will include people with newly diagnosed diabetic retinopathy on first visit. •3A â?? Mild/Moderate/Severe NPDR â?? do not need treatment •3B - PDR/CSME/TRD/VH â?? need treatment 4)Group 4 (four) will include people with diabetic retinopathy on treatment.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Severe co-morbid conditions. • Current participation in any other study. • Patients with psychiatric disorders
