Intervention1: INTRAVENOUS DEXMEDETOMIDINE: Injection dexmedetomidine 0.5microgram/kg diluted to 10ml in saline will be administered ten minutes before the end of surgery in children undergoing below

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Children 2-18 years posted for elective extraperitoneal lower abdominal and extremity procedures 2. Children â?? ASA I and II patients

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Parental refusal 2.Neonates 3.Children with ASA III, IV 4.Patients posted for intraperitoneal abdominal procedures 5. Suspected difficult airway 6. Reactive airway disease 7.Congenital/Neurological disease 8.Children on beta blockers, anticonvulsants

To study the effects of single dose intravenous Dexmedetomidine administration on the hemodynamic and airway responses during emergence from anesthesia in children.Timepoint: At extubation, post extubation at 5, 10, 15 and 30minutes

To evaluate the effect of dexmedetomidine as an adjuvant drug during emergence from anesthesia in reduction of perioperative respiratory adverse events in children.Timepoint: Extubation and post operative recovery period
