Intervention1: prophylactic negative pressure wound therapy in closed abdominal incision.: After the skin closure,sterile foam with suction tube will be placed with negative pressure of 125 mm Hg -dre

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All eligible patients ranging 18-80 years of age can be included in this study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: -Age -laparoscopic assisted procedures. -Patient needing 2nd look surgery within same admission.

MeasureTime frame
Compare prophylactic negative pressure wound therapy vs standard surgical dressing in reducing surgical site infection in closed abdominal incisions.Timepoint: 3-10 days

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
-Compare duration of dressing required,and type of wound complications other than SSI(seroma,hematoma, dehiscence) and length of hospital stay. -Need of readmission within 30 days of surgery. -Study risk factors for SSI.Timepoint: 3-30 days
