Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Males and females of age group 20-30 years and 50 -60 years 2.Normal subjects will be defined as: a)SPEED questionnaire score of 0 b)Schirmerâ??s test value of more than 10 seconds after 5 minute c)Tear film break up time of more than 10 seconds d)Oxford staining score of grade 0 or grade 1 e)Normal lid margins f)Patent lacrimal sac apparatus

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Subjects found to have abnormal values in the above mentioned tests 2. Undergone refractive or ocular surgery in the past one year 3. Using contact lens 4. Ocular injury/ocular infection in past 6 months 5. Lid margin abnormalities 6. Punctal plugs, punctal occlusion, canalicular and nasolacrimal duct blocks 7. Subjects on any ocular medications 8. Subjects on systemic medications (OCP, antidepressants, antipsychotics, antihistamines ) 9. Systemic comorbidities like diabetes mellitus 10. Collagen vascular diseases 11. Auto- immune diseases. 12. Parkinsonâ??s disease.

To determine the effects of age and sex on lipid layer thickness using Lipiview II interferometer in normal subjects. Timepoint: At baseline

MeasureTime frame
1)To establish normative data for lipid layer thickness and morphology of meibomian glands using Lipiview II interferometer. Timepoint: 1 year
