A study to compare a monitoring tool value (Surgical Plethysmographic Index) before waking up the patient from general anaesthesia to predict pain after surgery while using two medications (isoflurane and sevoflurane) for providing the general anesthesia during surgery.

A prospective observational study to compare the Surgical Plethysmographic Index (SPI) value prior to arousal to predict acute postoperative pain between isoflurane and sevoflurane based general anaesthesia.

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients receiving general anaesthesia with isoflurane and sevoflurane as the inhalational agent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients on beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, any anti-hypertensive medications 2.Patients diagnosed with peripheral artery disease, hypertension, cardiovascular disease 3.known conditions affecting peripheral perfusion like coarctation of aorta etc 4. History of long standing diabetes mellitus 5. Vaso-active drug administration 10 minutes prior to the reading of surgical pleth index(SPI) before arousal 6. Patients with pacemakers and cardiac arryhthmias 7. Patients receiving analgesia via epidural catheter and nerve blocks

To compare whether the SPI value obtained at the end of surgery during general anesthesia using equi-MAC isoflurane or sevoflurane corresponds to similar NRS score postoperativelyTimepoint: Last 10 minutes of sugery,SPI value will be recorded At 5 minutes and 15 minutes post operatively, NRS will be recorded
