Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients of chronic venous disease with truncal reflux diagnosed on Duplex ultrasound scanning. C2 to C5 disease according to CEAP classification

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Active deep vein thrombosis (DVT) 2. Pregnant female 3. Deep venous reflux 4. Previous surgery for varicose veins 5. Patient not willing for surgery 6. GSV diameter >10mm

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To assess anatomical success rate in terms of target vein occlusion by duplex ultrasound.Timepoint: Day 7 and at 3 months

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To assess efficacy of compression in terms of venous clinical severity score (VCSS) and chronic venous insufficiency quality of life questionnaire (CIVIQ 20) score. To estimate magnitude of postoperative pain using visual analogue score (VAS) and need for postoperative analgesia. To determine safety in terms of postoperative complications e.g. bruising and blisters, deep vein thrombosis, superficial thrombophlebitis of other tributaries and recurrence. Timepoint: day 3-7, 7 and 3 months
