Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. ASA physical status i-iii 2. Age group of 18-70 3.BMI 4. Candidates posted for upper abdominal surgeries and surgical duration expected to exceed beyond 2 hours

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Mechanical ventilation of > 1 hour within the last 2 weeks before surgery 2. Body mass index � 35 kg/m2 3. Acute respiratory failure (pneumonia, acute lung injury or acute respiratory distress syndrome) - Emergency surgery - Sepsis or septic shock - Progressive neuromuscular illness - Intra-thoracic surgery - Pregnancy - Orbital tumors - Optic neuritis - Glaucoma - Refusal to participate
