Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA 1 and 2 patients, aged more than 18yrs, planned to undergo elective surgery under general anaesthesia.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients planned to undergo Rapid sequence induction. 2.Patients planned to undergo awake intubation. 3.Patients with facial fractures. 4.Pregnant patients planned for general anesthesia. 5.Patients with predicted airway difficulty. 6.Patients with BMI >30.

To assess the incidence of gastric insufflation associated with Transnasal Humidified Rapid Insufflation Ventilatory Exchange in anaesthetised and paralysed patients by the appearance of comet tail artifacts.Timepoint: The appearance of comet tail artifacts in gastric ultrasound after intubation.

MeasureTime frame
1.To measure gastric antral area prior to and following insufflation. 2.To measure the end tidal carbon dioxide values before and after intubation. 3.To measure any episodes of desaturation (Sp02 92%) during the time of insufflation Timepoint: 1.Gastric area assessment before and after intubation 2.Measurement of etCO2 before and after intubation 3.Any incidence of desaturation during the procedure will be noted.
