Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria: (1) Adult patients (age >= 18 years), (2) Undergoing non-cardiac surgery, (3) Admitted to the surgical intensive care unit (SICU), and high dependency units (HDU). (4) At a high risk of postoperative AKI. High-risk patients referred to as patients having at least one of the following conditions: (a) Preoperative comorbidities, including i. Hypertension (HTN), ii. Diabetes mellitus (DM), iii. Coronary heart disease, iv. Congestive heart failure (CHF), v. Cerebrovascular disease, vi. Chronic kidney disease not required dialysis, vii. Lung disease, or liver disease; (b) Major surgery, defined as surgery duration >=2h; (c) Ongoing organ dysfunction, defined as the sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) score >= 2 from one single organ system.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria: Patients with any of the following criteria will be excluded: (1) Chronic kidney disease stage 5 or requiring long-term dialysis; (2) Surgery involving kidney, such as nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy, nephroureterectomy, or kidney transplantation; (3) AKI events before surgery (4) Patient Refusal; and (5) Cardiac Surgery patients

To know the association between hypoproteinaemia at admission and Acute Kidney Injury in high risky patients whoever is scheduled for elective major non-cardiac and non-renal major surgery.Timepoint: with in 7 days after surgery

To know the â??hypoproteinaemia prevalenceâ?? in high risky patients whoever is scheduled for elective major non-cardiac and non-renal surgery.Timepoint: at the time of surgery;To know the â??short-term outcomeâ?? (28 days or up to discharge from hospital) of these patients and its association with pre-operative hypoproteinaemiaTimepoint: 28 days or at the time of discharge;To know the incidence of AKI in this cohort of surgical and high risky patients.Timepoint: with in first 7 days after surgery
