Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged between 18 to 40 years 2. AO/OTA-42 Tibial fractures 3. Isolated closed fracture or open (upto grade 2 Gustilo-Anderson) fractures of tibia amenable to fixation with intramedullary nail 4. No previous history of knee surgery 5. No previous history of chronic knee pain 6. Patient giving consent for study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Age less than 18 and more than 40 2. Pre-operative history of knee pain or arthritis 3. Intra-articular tibia fracture 4. Pathological fracture 5. Prior fracture of ipsilateral tibia 6. Previous knee surgery 7. Polytrauma patients and patients with fractures in the ipsilateral limb 8. Patient not giving consent for study 9. Pregnant females

To compare intraoperative fluoroscopy time, total blood loss and operative time between Supra-patellar and Infra- patellar insertion techniques in the treatment of extra-articular tibial shaft fractures.Timepoint: Immediately after surgery;To compare the efficacy of MRI in assessment of patellofemoral arthritis and knee arthritis following Supra-patellar and Infra-patellar tibial nailing by comparing them to arthroscopic findings.Timepoint: 6 months after surgery—
