Comparing the effects of two different ventilator settings in patients who are posted for planned surgeries in lying on back position under general anesthesia.

To compare the effects of ventilator setting of 7 ml/kg tidal volume, without PEEP and PEEP of 10 cm H2O on intraoperative ventilation and oxygenation indices in patient undergoing elective surgeries in supine position. A Prospective double blinded randomized Control Trial.

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA 1 and 2, Age: 19-65 years, BMI : 18-35, Elective surgery under GA in supine position.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: ASA 3 and 4, Age : 65yrs, Emergency surgeries, BMI > 35, Surgeries not less than 1 hours, History of COPD, Asthma, chronic smoking.

Primary Outcome/s: To compare the oxygenation indices such as PaCo2, PaO2, PaO2/FiO2 ratio, pH, lactates. Timepoint: one hour from intubation

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary Outcome: To compare the adequacy of ventilation based on ETCO2 changes, peak airway pressure and hemodynamic changes such as heart rate and blood pressure. Timepoint: one hour from intubation
