Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Neurosurgical patientsof either gender in the age group 18-65 years of American Society Of Anaesthesiologist(ASA)grade II-III undergoing Elective Craniotomy.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Any patients with Systemic infections, cardiac disease, degenerative neurological disease, hepatic disease, diabetes mellitus, pregnant and nursing females.

MeasureTime frame
To Evaluate the effects of Dexmedetomidine infusion on the inflammatory markers(cytokines)i.e.,interleukin-6(IL-6),Interleukin-10(IL-10),Tumor necrosis factor(TNF-alpha) and C Reactive Protein(CRP) as ompared to standard anaesthesia care in adult neurosurgical patients undergoing Craniotomy.Timepoint: Blood samples are taken for inflammatory markers(cytokines)i.e.,interleukin-6(IL-6),Interleukin-10(IL-10),Tumor necrosis factor(TNF-alpha) and C Reactive Protein(C-RP) at Baseline,1 hour Post Surgery, 12 hour Post Surgery and 24 hour Post Surgery.

To evaluate the effects of Dexmedetomidine infusion on Serum Cortisol and glucose as compared to standard anaesthesia care in adult neurosugical patients undergoing Cranitomy.Timepoint: Blood samples will be taken prior to induction(baseline), 1hr, 12hr and 24 hr post surgery.
