Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1.Newly diagnosed patients (age 18 years or above) with clinic-radiological diagnosis of locally advanced, unresectable or metastatic oesophageal cancer. 2.Patients assessed in Thoracic Oncology Clinic and not referred to Palliative Medicine 3. Patient must have a caregiver. 4. Able to give informed consent for questionnaire administration and willing to participate. 5.Able to communicate and understand English/Hindi/Marathi. Caregivers 1. Adults (aged 18 years or over) identified by the patient as the person closest to them (family member/ close friend). 2. Able to give informed consent to complete the questionnaires.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients having pre-existing psychiatric disorder or cognitive impairment preventing patients from comprehending questionnaire. 2. Patients with unstable medical condition requiring any emergency treatment. 3. Patients unable to express their views even with communication aids. 4. Patients already referred to Palliative Medicine Department.
