Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA I- III, patients undergoing thoracic surgery for lung pathology with ejection fraction of >45%, patients with Coronary artery disease with ejection fraction of >45% posted for Off Pump Coronary artery bypass (OPCAB), patients undergoing elective surgery

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with valvular heart disease, adults with congenital heart disease, history of maltose or fructose intolerance, patients of Diabetes mellitus, history of gastroesophageal disease (obstructions or carcinomas of upper GIT, Gastroesophageal hernias, GERD), difficult airway, patients posted for re-exploratory or emergency surgery BMI=30 Kg/m2 Patient refusal to participate in study, patients with documented delayed gastric emptying or slow gastrointestinal motility.
