Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All adult patients (18 years and above) undergoing thyroidectomy under the care of the principal investigator for benign and malignant disease of the thyroid.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Excluded would be cases of revision surgery, less-than-total thyroidectomy, concurrent hyperparathyroidism and malignancy with gross extrathyroidal extension.
