Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients aged 18-80 years admitted to critical care unit. Patients with sepsis or septic shock.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who have been on supplemental vitamin C prior to admission Patients with already aggressive fluid resuscitation, which may hemodilute vitamin C concentration in plasma. Patients on dialysis, where vitamin C is eliminated .

Serum vitamin C levels as compared with the modified NUTRIC scoresTimepoint: Serum vitamin C levels as compared with the modified NUTRIC scores on day of admission to ICU

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Number of days in ICU, outcome of ICU stay.Timepoint: day of admission to ICU till day of discharge or mortality will be noted.
