Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients with sepsis or septic shock who are admitted to the intensive care unit
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Previously known thiamine deficiency patients Patients who have been on supplemental thiamine prior to admission Patients on regular alcohol consumption Patients with liver dysfunction (AST/ALT >240 U/L) as patients with liver dysfunction may have elevated thiamine levels Cirrhotic patients Patients on dialysis, where thiamine can be eliminated . Patients on any medications which can cause lactate elevation.
