Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. American society of Anaesthesiology physical status 1 and 2 2. Scheduled for elective upper limb orthopaedic surgery(forearm and elbow surgery) 3. Informed and written consent to the study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patient with known hypersensitivity to LA 2. Local infection at the site of the block 3. Patients with known coagulopathy or on anticoagulation therapy 4. Patients with history of cardiac,hepatic,renal disease,respiratory,neurological,psychiatric,neuromuscular disorders 5. Pregnant and lactating patients 6. Patients with morbid obesity 7. Patients with systemic use of corticosteroids for 2 weeks or longer within 6 months of surgery and chronic opioid use 8. Patients who are unable to comprehend the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)for pain assessment

To compare the onset of sensory and motor block, the duration of sensory and motor blockade and total rescue analgesic requirements.Timepoint: Onset of sensory blockade-time interval between end of injection and loss of pinprick response Onset of motor blockade-time interval between end of injection and complete motor paralysis of wrist and hand. Duration of sensory blockade-interval between sensory blockade and reappearance of pinprick response Duration of motor blockade-time interval between maximum motor blockade and complete movement of wrist and fingers. Total rescue analgesic requirement in first 24 post operative hours
