Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult patients (aged between 18 to 80y), fulfilling WHO case definition of COVID-19 infection and moderate to severe or critically ill will be included in this study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patientsâ?? refusal 2. Mild COVID-19 infection. 3. Unproven COVID-19 infection. 4. Patients with known diabetes mellitus as per ADA 2010 criteria 5. Patients on steroids

To know whether Insulin Resistance measured by HOMA Insulin Resistance (IR) score can predict in-hospital mortalityTimepoint: Till hospital discharge

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
HOMA IR score can predict prolonged hospital stay (defined by a duration of more than 21 days) in these patients and serum glucagon and serum cortisol can predict mortality or prolonged hospital stay.Timepoint: Till hospital discharge
