Health Condition 1: null- All patients above 18 years of age undergoing Laparoscopic Anterior Resection/Low Anterior Resection/ Ultra Low Anterior Resection for cancerous/non cancerous colonic lesions. Health Condition 2: C19- Malignant neoplasm of rectosigmoidjunction

Interventions

Intervention1: 2% IV Lidocaine: Intraoperative continuous intravenous Lidocaine infusion at 2mg/kg bolus followed by 2mg/kg infusion till 30 minutes postoperative. Control Intervention1: Thoracic Epid

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.All patients undergoing laparoscopic Anterior Resection/ Low Anterior Resections/ Ultra Low Anterior Resection for either cancerous / non cancerous lesions. 2.Age > 18 yrs 3.ASA 1 & 2

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: â?? ASA 3 & 4 â?? Electrolyte disturbances â?? Allergy to local anaesthetic â?? Seizure disorder â?? Anti-arrhythmic drug intake within 1 week before surgery â?? Psychiatric disorders â?? Steroid treatment â?? Chronic opioid treatments â?? Conversion to laparotomy
