Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients of age more than 10 years and normal comprehension with symptoms of hearing loss Previously operated patients as a separate group Special interest : history of taking ototoxic medications in the past, those with a history of measles, mumps, rubella, jaundice etc

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: patient with vibrotactile disease. External auditory canal abnormality/stenosis Patient with clinical evidence or history of cognitive function disorder /mentally challenged/retarded. Any disease which can affect patientâ??s responsiveness/perception.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Pure tone thresholds -250hz, 500hz, 1000hz, 2000hz, 4000hz Tuning fork tests: Rinnes, Webers , ABC Severity of hearing loss as mild/ moderate/severe as per TFT Severity of hearing loss as mild to profound as per Pure tone audiometry. Timepoint: Its a cross sectional study and there will be no definite time points for data recording hence this is not applicable.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Agreement between different diagnostic outcome measures Specificity, sensitivity and predictability for detecting hearing lossTimepoint: will be calculated at the end of the study
