Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1)American Society of Anaesthesiologists grade 1 and 2 underoing elective surgery 2) age group 20 to 80 years

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Thyrotoxicosis 2.Pheochromocytoma 3.Patient With difficult airway 4.Patient on beta blockers or alpha blockers 5.Allergy to either of the study drugs

MeasureTime frame
To compare the effect of dexmedetomidine and esmolol on the change in heart rate from baseline to 1 minute after laryngoscopy and intubation.Timepoint: 1 minute after laryngoscopy and intubation.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Change in systolic BP, diastolic BP and MAP from base line to predinduction, just before intubation and to 1 minute, 4 minute, 7 minute and 10 minute after laryngoscopy and intubation.Timepoint: 1 minute, 4 minute, 7 minute and 10 minute after laryngoscopy and intubation.
