Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.all patients of age group 18 â?? 70 years 2.emergency laparotomy for modified RSI 3.American society of anesthesiologistsâ?? clinical status I- III

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Cardiothoracic trauma 1.Maxillofacial trauma 2.preoxygenation goals not met i.e. spo2 3.Known mechanical airway obstruction. Patient not consenting. 4.American society of anesthesiologistâ??s clinical status IV. 5.Anticipated difficult airway

1. Incidence of oxygen desaturation Absolute incidence of oxygen desaturation less than 90% as measured by pulse oximetry,Onygen reserve index(ORI), And arterial oxygen saturation, via ABG 2. Group differences between oxygenation indices Measured via pulse oximetry, ORI and Pao2 Timepoint: 1.Baseline- Before preoxygenation. 2.At the end of adequate/most optimal preoxygenation 3.At the end of successful endotracheal intubation confirmed by serial capnography.
