Conditions

Health Condition 1: S620- Fracture of navicular [scaphoid] bone of wrist

Interventions

Intervention1: Bone grafting based on vascularised pedicle of volar carpal artery: In scaphoid fracture non-union vascularised pedicled bone grafting will be done based on volar carpal artery

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Scaphoid non-union ( > 6 weeks duration) with DISI deformity/ humpback deformity of scaphoid. 2. Scaphoid non-union with fracture at distal one third or waist of scaphoid without humpback.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Age >60yrs and 2. Previous surgeries for the scaphoid non- union 3. SNAC stage 2 or more 4. Other significant fracture in same limb 5. Proximal pole scaphoid fractures not suitable for volar approach

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
rate of union and duration to union following volar carpal artery based vascularised bone grafting.Timepoint: To look for union patient will be followed up at 6 and 10 weeks for wrist xrays ,at 10weeks for CT wrist

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1.the carpal alignment achieved following open reduction and internal fixation for scaphoid non- unions by volar approach using volar carpal artery based vascularised bone grafting. 2. the anatomy (pedicle length) of the graft in Indian population. 3. the functional outcomes of treatment of scaphoid non-union with volar carpal artery based pedicled vascularised bone grafting.Timepoint: Pedicle length will be observed intraoperatively
