Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Upper, middle and lower third fractures of tibia 2.Open fractures of Gustilo Anderson Grade 2 and 3A with a wound size of 1-10 cm². 3.Gustilo Anderson grade 3B where wound can be closed

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Infected wounds 2.Grossly contaminated wounds from farmyard or sewage contamination. 3.Exposed Bone at the fracture site 4.Bone Loss 5.Comminuted and segmental fracture 6.Intra-articular extension of fracture. 7.Pathological fractures. 8.External fixators which span proximal to the knee joint. 9.HIV, Diabetes, Pregnancy / Lactation/ Patient on Steroids. 10.Hemoglobin less than 10g% 11.Coagulopathy 12.Platelet count less than 2,00,000/mm3 13.Patient of unsound mind or undergoing psychiatric treatment.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Assessment of wound status in open fractures of tibia with the use of platelet rich fibrin.Timepoint: Wound assessment will be recorded on day 3, day 7 and then every week till wound healing.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Assessment of union of open fractures of tibia with platelet rich fibrin.Timepoint: X-rays will be done to assess the fracture union once a month for 6 months.
